Tuesday, May 18th marks the 30th anniversary of the tragic death of Joy Division lead singer Ian Curtis. After meeting childhood friends Bernard Sumner and Peter Hook at a Sex Pistols concert, they formed Joy Division and pioneered Britain’s post-punk scene. Curtis became its brightest star before taking his own life at 23. With only 4 years together and 2 studio albums, it’s amazing how influential and relevant their sound remains.
